TON 618
An Interactive Simulation of TON 618 Black Hole

What it does
This is an interactive, physics inspired real time simulation of one of the universe's most massive known supermassive black holes TON 618 . Built in Python using the Taichi GPU programming framework, it delivers stunning volumetric rendering and realistic relativistic effects at ultra-high performance.
How it Works The simulation utilizes advanced GPU ray marching through a Schwarzschild metric, calculating real-time gravitational lensing (light bending) around the event horizon. It simulates the accretion disk's volumetric density and incorporates relativistic Doppler beaming where the disk dynamically shifts in brightness and color (bluish white when approaching, dim violet when receding) depending on the orbital velocity. It also models polar plasma jets streaming along the rotation axis. Why it's Cool The simulation is highly interactive, featuring custom sidebar controls to adjust the black hole's mass, disk density, and jet velocity in real-time. It runs incredibly fast on GPU/Metal using pre computed noise textures for Fractional Brownian Motion (FBM) shader calculations.
