The Formation of a Black Hole in a nutshell!
Explore stellar collapse using an interactive 3D simulator that visualizes black hole formation stage by stage!

What it does
What it is: a compact interactive simulator that demonstrates how a massive star collapses into a black hole. It stages the process (stable star → core collapse → event horizon → accretion disk → tidal disruption → jets) and visualizes each step with simple 3D graphics with explaination to aid understanding.
How it works: the app is built with React and Three.js (r3f). A stage-driven controller updates scene parameters (object sizes, ring geometry, particle count, jet visibility) while lightweight physics helpers compute horizon distance, disk temperature, and simple velocity/dilation metrics. The accretion disk is an instanced particle system with color, size, and spiral motion to suggest heating and inflow. Camera modes let you follow a guided educational view or freely explore. A cinematic toggle adjusts visual fidelity for performance.
Why it’s cool: Turning abstract astrophysics into an simplified, explorable experience, students and curious users can see cause-and-effect, tweak perspectives, and watch dynamic structures emerge, stage by stage. This stage by stage structure also aids comprehension as it's easy to follow. Hence, it can be used as a teaching tool suited for most ages, via its visually engaging demo.
