Quantum Atom Explorer

Experience the atom beyond classical models.

What it does

Quantum Atom Explorer is an interactive 3D simulation that lets you explore the atom in a way that textbooks can't. Instead of showing electrons travelling in fixed circular orbits, it uses the Schrödinger model to display electron probability density clouds, giving a more accurate picture of how atoms behave. You can rotate the atom, zoom through the electron cloud into the nucleus, and even continue down to a simplified visualization of the quarks inside protons and neutrons. Different elements can be explored by changing the atomic number, while smooth transitions and animated wavefunctions make it easy to see how atomic orbitals change. By combining science with interactive graphics, the project turns abstract quantum concepts into something you can actually see and explore, making the invisible world of atoms more intuitive, engaging, and fun to learn about.
