GW170817: A Multimessenger Binary Neutron-Star Merger Simulation
rajdeep192002
An interactive real-time visualization of a binary neutron-star merger across gravitational waves, magnetic fields, neutrinos, ejecta, jets, and compact-remnant evolution.

What it does
This project provides a real-time, reduced-order simulation inspired by GW170817, following a binary neutron-star system from inspiral through merger and post-merger evolution.
It visualizes five complementary physical channels: CORE, gravitational waves, magnetic-field winding, neutrino emission/transport, and a multimessenger overview. The simulation also includes reduced-order relativistic lensing, dynamical ejecta, accretion, a model post-merger black hole, and structured outflows.
The implementation is designed for interactive operation on consumer hardware using Taichi-accelerated computation. Components that extend beyond directly observed GW170817 data, including post-merger black-hole formation and neutrino transport, are explicitly treated as reduced-order models or model continuations.
